ARION v1.0.01 is out!

Only three weeks after the release of Arion v1.0.00 we are releasing the first point release, packed with some ground-breaking improvements in memory management and performance. Additionally, we have released NetWarrior v1.0.00 for network rendering of stills and animations in fryrender or Arion. Last, but certainly not least, we have also released updated versions of our Max, C4D, SketchUp and Rhino plugins.

Improvements in Arion v1.0.01

You can read a detailed changelog here.

In short, most of the very important improvements from v1.0.00 to v1.0.01 have to do with memory management and performance:

Render bigger, using much less RAM:

In Arion v1.0.01 the framebuffer's RAM usage has been decreased by a factor of 7x. Now it is possible to render at 4K or much larger with a very compact memory footprint, as you can see in this render by Frances Gainer:

Open much larger scenes:

In Arion v1.0.01 the maximum amount of geometry accepted by the engine has been pushed by a factor of 5x.

Render faster:

Some features have been optimized and the CUDA rendering core has experienced a boost factor that can be as big as 2x depending on the scene.

Below you can take a look at some images produced by users of Arion. You can find many more in the Arion Gallery.

Note for old customers of fryrender:

If you don't own Arion yet, and want to get a copy, please do not forget that our Loyalty Offer will expire on April 15th. So this is the last week if you want to take advantage of the 200 EUR discount.

NetWarrior v1.0.00

NetWarrior is a very intuitive standalone application which automates distributed animation and co-operative still frame rendering for fryrender and Arion. Detecting your nodes, creating render jobs and seeing them squeeze all the computing resources in your network has never been this easy. NetWarrior can be downloaded free of charge from this page.

NetWarrior provides great comfort for all sorts of distributed rendering. However, the area where it shines the most is animation rendering with Arion.

Being able to use all the CPUs and GPUs in your network and having a manager capable of balancing the workload across your machines opens a new horizon in animation rendering.

Below you can take a look at an archviz animation rendered with Arion+NetWarrior.

Updated Max, C4D, SU & Rhino plugins

As part of the development of fryrender v1.5 we have been reworking all our plugins for fryrender/Arion. We have been adapting the plugins to the latest changes in our rendering technology, and making significant improvements in their workflow according to the feedback reported by our users.

Along with Arion v1.0.01 we have released upgraded plugins for the following modelling applications:

Autodesk 3D Studio Max

3D Studio Max

Maxon Cinema 4D

Cinema 4D

McNeel Rhinoceros 3D

Rhinoceros 3D

Google SketchUp

SketchUp

You can download the new plugins (and read the corresponding changelogs) by clicking on the icons above, or by accessing our Plugins & Add-Ons page.

We expect to release upgraded versions for Maya, XSI and LW soon. We also expect to release our new plugin for Modo very shortly.
